19-Sept-2007
With the celebration of Ember Days – on September 19, 20 and 22, it is good to remember to pray not only for those men and women who are ordained deacons and priests, but for everyone in his or her ministry:
Almighty and everlasting God, by whose Spirit the whole body of thy faithful people is governed and sanctified: Receive our supplications and prayers, which we offer before thee for all members of thy holy Church, that in their vocation and ministry they may truly and godly serve thee; through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the same Spirit, one God, now and fov ever. Amen. [BCP, p. 206]
Sponsors sought for special needs animals
In addition to the regular care that all of the Sanctuary House animals receive, there are those who have special on-going physical needs that require daily medication and/or prescription food. Although the costs for this vary, on average it is approximately an extra dollar per day. Sponsors are needed for these animals ($30 for one month or $365 for the entire year):
Katie – senior beagle who takes medicine for a heart condition
Izzy – cat who has twice-daily medication for a heart condition
Josie & Cyril - cats who often need medication for chronic upper respiratory problems
Tiger Lily, Fancy, Harry, Charlie, Tiger, Max, Kelsey, & Pippa – cats who must eat prescription food
Callie – senior Arabian mare who takes daily medication for severe arthritis in one knee
Sponsor checks may be sent to PO Box 143, Upper Fairmount, MD, with the animal’s name or special "needs" noted. Sponsors for a year, will receive a framed photo of his or her animal!
Thinking about adopting a cat or kitten?
Did you know that some rescues won’t take short hair, all black kittens or cats . . . and some “humane societies” even kill black cats and kittens - just because of color!? If you are thinking about adding
a cat or kitten to your home, and want all manner of good luck and blessings, do consider a black cat. If you don’t know where to find one – or can’t find one –feel free to give me a call. . .I can help!
How do I know solid black cats bring good luck? First paw experience, of course: Mari, Sam “Inky” Barnes, Jackson, Kieran, Dora, George, Vivian, Jake, Scout, Hershel, and Wendy!
Many thanks to everyone who has signed up with the Food Lion program – we now have more than 50 “members” helping with fund-raising for Sanctuary House! You can still join: go to www.foodlion.com and click on “fundraising.”
